Director — Payroll Support Team
The Countsy Director is responsible for upholding Countsy’s (the Company) commitment to the Client by focusing on quality in all aspects of delivery by supporting and developing the payroll team. The Director has the managerial and interpersonal skills to address and resolve the highest-level Client and team issues.
The Director is primarily responsible for a shared service team processing 300+ payrolls. The Director will be responsible for training, coaching and assisting Countsy team members at all levels. The Payroll Manager will report directly into the Director role.
The Director will function as a contributing team member to their assigned client team, working with Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, HR Generalists, and the team’s Controller and Assistant Controller and therefore must be able to work with all levels of Accounting, HR, and Payroll staff both within, and outside the organization. This position requires an extremely high-degree of independent judgment, decision making, and leadership skills, as the Director will be required to make and weigh-in on decisions that impact the Company.

Major Responsibilities
Complex payroll Client support work
Assist the team’s Implementation Specialist in complex payroll implementation projects if needed
Develop staff proficiencies and compliance with company standard procedures, tools and methodologies
Schedule and lead new hire trainings for new payroll team members
Work with payroll manager on payroll team workload reviews and project status and client back-up
Effectively communicate with Client, and Countsy staff to understand and document priorities
Oversee new process documentation and upgrades as well as responsible for communication of changes in policies related to payroll
Act as a point of escalation for Client issue resolution
Seek and communicate ways to improve Client satisfaction
Support Client and team with timely response to information requests
Take ownership of work and follow tasks through to completion
Utilize research and knowledge management channels
Work in conjunction with the Payroll Manager to ensure completion of Annual Performance Evaluations and managing performance concerns or recognition for payroll team
Effectively interact with and support other Countsy staff, management, and internal staff
Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities in a timely manner (e.g. Timesheet and expense report submission, annual review, response to e-mail and voice-mail, forecasting of upcoming availability)

Qualifications
Proven track record of exemplary Client service
Prior leadership experience
Solid knowledge of payroll procedures and compliance laws
Proven ability to research payroll issues, reach logical conclusions, and apply to clients’ situation.
Excellent time-management and ability to prioritize changing tasks
Sense of urgency necessary to meet goals, objectives and deadlines
Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills aiding in acting as an effective team member
Ability to adjust to new conditions, clients, and tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience with multi-entity or startup clients (strongly recommended)
Ability to work with people of varied levels of payroll knowledge
Ability to accept responsibility for errors, identify corrective measures and ensure controls are in place for non-recurrence
Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel – familiar with higher formulas (i.e. pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Demonstrated proficiency with various software, Payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.

Will interact internally with Startup CFO’s and other Countsy staff
Will need to interact with Client vendors and contacts
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Computer Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience. A CPP designation is a strong plus.
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years as payroll professional and Minimum 3-5y years payroll management experience.
Software: Hands-on experience with payroll software is required, specific platform tool experience is a strong plus.
Compensation and Benefits Information
Base Pay Range: $120,000 - $135,000
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonus Plan
All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.

Washington Time Off and Leave
Management and Support Roles : Employees working in the state of Washington will receive the following time off and leave benefits:*
Short-Term Disability Benefits: RGP provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of paid leave for total and temporary disability due to illness or injury.
Maternity Leave: For pregnancy and childbirth, female employees may receive up to 8 weeks (40 days) of paid Maternity Leave.**
Parental Leave: RGP provides 2 weeks (10 days) of paid Parental Leave for the birth or adoption of a child.**
